Agatti is the gateway to Lakshadweep - and a beautiful island to stay on in its own right.
In the water
- Snorkelling in the shallow lagoon - coral and reef fish just metres from the beach.
- Scuba diving with certified instructors - try-dives for beginners, and reef dives for certified divers.
- Kayaking and paddle boarding on the calm lagoon side.
- Glass-bottom boat rides if you would rather stay dry.
Island hopping
- Bangaram - white sand, a quiet lagoon and sandbanks; a popular day trip by boat (permit needed).
- Nearby sandbanks and uninhabited islets for a picnic and swim.
On land
- Walk or cycle the island's palm-lined roads.
- Watch the sunset from the western beach.
- Try fresh tuna dishes and local coconut-based food.
Good to know
- Respect the reef: do not stand on or touch coral.
- Dress modestly in villages; Lakshadweep is a conservative community.
- Alcohol is not available on most inhabited islands.
